As of 2008 there are approximately 360,000 fire fighting related jobs in the U.S. with an expected growth of 17 percent over the next 10 years (a total of 427,600 by 2018). Of the 360,000 workers, 310,400 are fire fighters and 55,200 are first-line supervisors/managers.
